The over-riding objective of the Explosives World Programme is to provide a multi-level information platform to assist personnel world wide in the safer undertaking of tasks involving explosives and to facilitate a forum where relevant specialists are can interact with an exchange of information and ideas.
The topics are generated from the latest scientific tests, researches, developments, designs, technologies and methodologies for carrying out operations in Counter-Terrorism, Search, IEDD (Improvised Explosive Device Disposal), Chemical and Bio-Chemical Threats and Responses, EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), Humanitarian Demining and Weapons Clearance, Canine and Bionic Trace Detection, International Operational and Safety Standards, Detection of Dangerous and/or Illegal Substances, Protection, Mitigation of Blast Effects (Vehicles/Control Rooms/Buildings), Equipment Development.
We encourage membership of appropriate professional bodies and promote continuous personal development, training and education. Standards of safety, education and training are more important in the explosives industry than most others and we support the development of professional centres to provide information and skills in these areas.
The Explosives World seminar and exhibition programme brings technicians, operatives, scientists, engineers, manufacturers and suppliers together. A wide range of topics are presented with an emphasis on new research and developments. In addition to the excellent standard of information presented by the speakers, the attendees are able to discuss, on a one to one basis, their personal requirements and experiences. We believe the only way to gain first hand information from a respected specialist is to be able to speak to them directly, the ExW seminar provides plenty of opportunity to make these contacts.
Equipment designers, manufacturers and suppliers are an important aspect of the continuing development of the over-all explosives industry and we believe it is important to provide ways for the commercial sector of the explosives community to meet with the procurement personnel and end users.
Explosives World 2008 was held at Imperial College London on the dates of Monday 7th April to 9th April 2008. There were over 150 attendees from 20 countries. Events for 2009 will be published on this site in due course.

The continued use of various sized vehicle bombs and personnel delivered bombs in attacks against buildings and their inhabitants calls for an in depth review of how these and other potential target structures can be better situated, designed, constructed and protected against this form of terrorism. The threat of terrorist attacks of this kind will continue to grow and it should be accepted as part of the environmental challenges that planners, designers and architects face.
